How SMBs can adapt easily to cloud according to Dell EMC?

According to Dell EMC, SMBs have equal share in the business industry along with the large enterprises. Infact Dell EMC says that SMBs are better than large enterprises as they adapt to the latest technologies very quickly than large enterprises.

It was difficult for SMBs to update their technology; they used to face difficulties due to fewer resources and lack of personnel. But Dell EMC has come up with a brand new flexible cloud like pricing for IT purchasing and consumption will make it easier for SMBs to adapt to the latest technologies. This article tells you about the same thing.

Small Medium Business (SMB) is a business which, due to its size, has different IT requirements—and often faces different IT challenges—than do large enterprises, and whose IT resources (usually budget and staff) are often highly constrained.

Small Business Attention

Dell EMC said that it not only looks at the big enterprises but also at small businesses. They do not generally discuss about all the solutions provided by Dell EMC. For example, Dell EMC cannot discuss about the VMAX All Flash Storage which is designed for large enterprises.

Dell EMC has a huge amount of increase in sales and the majority portion of the increased sales was of SMBs. So Dell EMC is focusing on SMBs as it is a large market in small pieces.

Dells tie up with EMC, has helped both the companies to learn from each other how to sell solutions. Dell was already in the SMB market while EMC was in the large enterprise market. Dell says that SMBs have embraced the public cloud and also that some of the Dell customers are moving faster than large enterprises.

 What is “Hyperconvergence”?

“Hyperconvergence is an IT framework that combines storage, computing and networking into a single system in an effort to reduce data center complexity and increase scalability.”

Hyper-converged Solution for SMBs

One of the solutions that Dell EMC wants to introduce to the SMB market is the VxRail Hyper-converged Infrastructure Appliance. The entry level solutions are very easy to handle and in reach of many SMBs. Hyper-converged solutions include computing, storage, networking, and virtualization; all these are pre-integrated and managed by a single management layer.

Dell is also coming up with a new Cloud Flex for HCI pricing via Dell Financial Services (DFS) which offers SMBs cloud like consumption model for hyper-converged solution. It is being pitched as a flexible finance solution which eliminates the upfront capital cost with declining payments overtime.

There is no obligation or restriction in the first year of the plan, the customers can return any HCI appliance. Cloud flex is available immediately with the VxRail and will soon be available with the VxRack System.

Dell EMC is working out a better way to market their brand new products to SMB customers.

The cloud flex model is mainly targeted at SMBs.

Which SMB is investing in which technology? There are many different companies that invest in different technologies. If it is a young company then they would prefer investing in the cloud form of backup as they would not have much of an IT infrastructure. Many of the SMBs are still buying Windows 7 due to proprietary software or the services they have.

What SMBs are supposed to acquire from IT is speed and security. SMBs do not have a lot of IT staff and require technology that just works. The easier the handling of software, the more customers will be handled by the SMBs and in-turn they will make more money. SMBs are focused on the security of customer data and intellectual property.

SMBs taking Advantage

Dell EMC has the right tools to make SMBs adapt to cloud technologies. Dell EMC sees the SMB market being ripe for cloud adaption. VMware is offering SMBs hybrid cloud, native hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure besides having virtualised computing and the data center via defined data centers.

VMware has all layers that can be consumed at a component level or in an integrated solution set. SMBs can easily connect its customers to the public clouds and VMware also offers private cloud solutions.

Majority of the SMBs customers rely on cloud system. Even though many SMBs are not at scale, they are not going to run data center infrastructure going forward. It is exciting for VMware to be under Dell technologies because SMB market is a very huge market and Dell is focused on that.

With the help of EMC, Dell will be able to cover those areas which they could not cover before. `

SMBs are virtualizing desktops and clients in a very different way so that they start separating themselves from unique bindings.

In many industries cloud computing has still not taken place and they are going to be tied to their data center infrastructure especially in high regulated industries.

Approach towards SMB cloud market

Dell is looking forward to deploy hyperconverged appliances that will be affordable and easily available to SMBs.

One of the solutions that Dell EMC wants to introduce to the SMB market is the VxRail Hyper-converged Infrastructure Appliance. The entry level solutions are very easy to handle and in reach of many SMBs. Hyper-converged solutions include computing, storage, networking, and virtualisation; all these are pre-integrated and managed by a single management layer.

As compared to buying different compute, storage, and networking equipment or renting from a public cloud, Dell offers the Hyperconverged solution that will be very useful and more cost effective to SMBs. This solution is powerful enough to allow SMBs to start building hybrid cloud, native hybrid cloud and virtual desktop infrastructure.
